Supercharge Your Morning!

supercharge your morning with your nutritionistToday is one of those delightful, bright Autumnal Sundays. The sunshine is piercing across the blue sky and it is one of those days when you want to get out with your dog (and favourite humans) and walk for miles.

That is my plan but first I want to share with you how I began my day to energise and refresh – a whole new weekend is here!

After an hour of yogalates, and an indulgent date with the contents of my bathroom, I head kitchen bound to fill my hungry tummy.

So I pick some fresh mango, grapes and blueberries then chop them up and munch whilst I prepare the main course of the most important meal of the day. Of course I have a massive mug of green tea to sip alongside my juicy starter too. It is so important to hydrate well before eating to encourage the release of stomach acids to fully digest your food. Also, the antioxidants that are swimming in every sip help to begin my day on a natural high…

The main feature of my breakfast includes 2 organic eggs, a massive handful of spinach, 3 peeled chestnut mushrooms, 1 handful of sweet cherry tomatoes, 2 spring onions and a flick or two of turmeric.

I pelt a couple of spoonfuls of coconut oil into my wok and flip in the mushrooms, tomatoes and spring onion. I let them sizzle, as the exotic aroma of coconut fills the kitchen. Coconut oil is the best cooking oil you can use – yes, better than olive oil, butter and definitely lard! The body indulges in this fat and uses it promptly for energy rather than storage. It fuels your body’s fat burning furnace, and nourishes the cells in your intestines.

Oh it also doubles up as a superb beauty agent. Topically apply it to dry skin on your face and body and even on your hair for true swish-factor! Coconut oil is an excellent anti-ager, gloss enhancer and glow enhancer! Victoria Secret Model, Miranda Kerr, recently credited this oil for her general gorgeousness, so you have probably heard the buzz already – and now you have the professional seal of approval too, so what are you waiting for!?

So once the vegetables are lightly cooked, I pop in a couple of generous handfuls of my favourite leafy green, spinach. Spinach cooks super quickly, so I go about cracking my eggs into a cup and swiftly pour the protein nectar into the pan with a sprinkling of turmeric for an autumnal splash of colour, as well as a fragrant kiss which delivers a multitude of health benefits, including digestive support, immunity strength and anti-inflammatory action.

This may sound like an omelette, but they are a bit too rigid for my liking so I mush the mixture up with a wooden spoon as the eggs cook in a scrambled manner, and admire the colourful wok concoction as my mouth begins to water – this is the start of my digestive process kicking in!

The eggs take minutes to cook and infuse with the flavours delightfully, so it is plate-ready before I know it!

Yum! I swallow down my supplements alongside my chomps – which consist of a good quality multi-vitamin, omega 3 and pro-biotic. Standard!

I haven’t had any complex carbohydrate with my breakfast yet which isn’t ideal post-workout as I need to replenish my glycogen stores and charge my inner battery with energy for the day ahead, so I toast a piece of rye bread and spread it with butter and marmite. Marmite packs a perfect punch of B vitamins which are essential for all bodily requirements including energy, brain function, skin luminosity and even to deter mosquito’s (although I’m hoping they won’t be out in their forces on this mid-October day in Maldon!)

You may think that this is the biggest breakfast ever and no I certainly do not have the time to eat like this on an average morning… But isn’t this what Saturday mornings are for?

And anyway I’ve not finished yet! I blast up a quick smoothie to slurp whilst I am writing this blog! Pineapple, carrot, apple, beetroot and celery for a burst of antioxidants, fibre and general goodness… Now are you beginning to see how this nutritionist manages her 12 a day!?

And it really is delicious!!

Now I’m off… A very good morning to you!

Love, Rach x
